safe holidays are happy holidays

At Scott's Farm we do everything that we can to ensure you have a fantastic holiday, but we also ask you to do everything that you can to ensure that your stay with us is as safe as possible. While it's important that you can switch off and relax, it is equally - possible more important - that you observe simple safety guidelines so that you and those around don't suffer any avoidable accidents.

Take a few moments to read the simple guidance that follows but please also use your own common sense to ensure other unnecessary and unforeseeable problems don't arise.

Thank you for your assistance. Have a great time!

in the event of
an emergency call: 999

upon your arrival

fire extinguishers

Please familiarise yourself with your nearest fire extinguisher. They are clearly marked around the site and are shown on all of our site maps. At night they can be easily found by looking for the red locator lights marking the position of every fire extinguisher around our site.

emergency assembly point

Please plan your safe route from your pitch to the emergency assembly point which is in front of the main reception.

tent pegs

The simple tent peg can be a major hazard. If not fully in the ground they are easy to trip over, and if they are not removed when you go home they can become damaged so that people of all ages can be badly hurt, particularly if they are trodden on. They also get caught in the blades of mowers causing mechanical damage with the ability to injure the driver. Please, please install and remove pegs carefully.

personal fire extinguishers

While fire extinguishers are readily available across Scotts Farm Camping Site there is no substitute for personal preparation. Fire can take hold very quickly causing significant damage. We therefore recommend that you bring a working fire extinguisher of you own. However, fire fighting is extremely dangerous and should be left to the professionals. So firstly you should ALWAYS dial 999 in the event of a fire and only tackle a fire if you are sure it is safe to do so and as an absolute last resort.

gas safe connections

IMPORTANT: Please ensure that the connections to your Propane/Butane gas are modern and installed correctly. Connectors between the gas bottle, hose and device MUST be tightly fitted. Gas hoses MUST NOT be perished, damaged or cracked. Propane and Butane Gas can be DEADLY and having safe and correctly working gas devices is essential. But, if equipment is in good condition you will be able to have worry free holidays to remember. Please check all of your gas equipment before you arrive.

carbon monoxide poisoning

Carbon monoxide is extremely dangerous and sadly it has been fatal for many people as we hear all too regularly. It's a heavy gas, heavier than air, so when it escapes it sits low, up to 1m from the ground and doesn't dissipate. We want to ensure you and your loved one's are safely enjoying your holiday. So PLEASE don't cook in or close to your tents, or have BBQs close to your tent, even if it is cold and wet.

camping approved electrical's

Please ensure you are using modern, approved camping electrical cables, plugs and devices. They are designed to work in camping environments. DO NOT use homemade cables. Also, ensure you do not overload capacity by combining many devices on one extension unit. Ask for details and we will be happy to guide you.

outside safe electrical's

As we all know, water and electrics do not mix. Properly working approved cables that are designed for use outside have been manufactured to work in wet and dry conditions. However, we would always recommend that ALL types of cable and devices are not used outside as there is risk of serious harm or damage.

cooking at Scott's Farm with fire

Cooking with BBQs is allowed at Scott's Farm. Open fires are only allowed with smokeless fuel logs and charcoal (available at most hardware stores, Amazon and Scott's Farm Reception). Wood burning open fires are NOT allowed. BBQs must be a safe distance from all tents, caravans and motorhomes, hedges, dry grassy areas and all other buildings. BBQs must ALWAYS be attended by a responsible adult and NEVER be left unattended at any time. Disposable BBQs should be raised away from grass on bricks which are available from reception at no cost. Your BBQ MUST be fully extinguished as soon as you have finished using it.

extinguishing and disposing of BBQs

Please be aware that sometimes a BBQ appears to have gone out but there can still be enough heat to cause a fire, so ALWAYS drench fully coals with water before disposing. BBQs can only be disposed of in designated skips but the coals MUST be completely extinguished and cold. Thank you for your assistance. We don't want to spoil your fun but we do need to consider yours and everyone's safety.
